Valve Maintenance

The valves only really require washing out once or twice a year with a hose to ensure no silt build up is present in the float chamber.

Ensure the correct safety equipment is used when carrying out this procedure:
When this maintenance is carried out it is very important to reassemble the valve correctly.

  • Step 1
Remove lid by undoing the series of wing nuts these should all be finger tight.
  • Step 2
Lift off lid then remove float and flap assembly and store in a safe place.
  • Step 3
Wash out valve body with a normal hose until clean and inspect the pipe seal for any damage.
  • Step 4
Refit float and flap assembly ENSURING the central spindle is correctly seated as this will rotate when removed. This spindle block must be sitting flush with the gasket face and the float and flap assembly sitting level in the 2 U shaped cups and swinging freely.
  • Step 5
Inspect lid seals then if all OK refit lid and secure with the wing nuts and washers ensuring these are only finger tight.
